Celtic 6 – 0 Motherwell

Celtic made this a memorable title game as they incorporated the style to beat Motherwell 6-0 in their last game of the season.

It was a day of celebration at Celtic Park after they regained the Scottish Premiership title with a draw in the middle of the week at Dundee United.

They made sure that this was a memorable party against a team from Motherwell, which had already secured European football for next season.

The couples of Kyogo Furuhashi and Giorgos Giacumakis and goals from David Turnbull and Giotto made this title party memorable as Tom Rogic and Nir Bitten emotionally said goodbye to the club they called home for ten seasons.

The stunning Celtic title win also ensures that fans will be able to enjoy football in the group stage of the Champions League next season, which costs around £ 40 million for the club.

How Celtic started the party on the day of the trophy

Ange Postekoglu, winner of the League and League Cup in his first season at the helm, transformed a club from a club that finished 25 points behind Rangers last season, four points ahead of its big rivals.

Motherwell had already qualified for the Europa League qualifiers, but they will want to forget this match quickly.

Australian midfielder Rogic started the game with the approval of the excited home support, as Giotta, Furuhashi, Daisen Maeda and Turnbull also returned to the country with Israeli national Beaton on the bench.

Chief Graham Alexander made two substitutions with Bevis Mugabi and Victor Nirenold, for the first time since his signing in January, replacing Liam Donnelly and Juhani Ojala and they and their teammates spent most of the first half.

Kyogo Furuhashi takes advantage of Motherwell’s mistake to put Celtic in the lead

It was only a matter of time before Celtic made a breakthrough and he came after a mistake by Nirenold in the 22nd minute.

The French defender missed a deep corner from Giotto in the penalty area and the Japanese national wasted no time, turning and shooting low past the goalkeeper of Well Liam Kelly on his near post.

In the 32nd minute, when Motherwell withdrew from a rare attack, Iota’s cross from the left was met by the sliding Rogic, whose shot bounced off the crossbar with a raised flag for offside or stalking Hoops striker Maeda.

Then Celtic had a minute or so relaxed.

Motherwell’s Joe Efferd set up Dean Cornelius, but his unconvincing 16-yard shot went a long way.

The hosts prevailed again and scored twice before the break.

Kyogo Furuhashi smashes at home with a delightful volley to bring Celtic 3-0 against Motherwell

Turnbull combined with Maeda and turned Fair Park defender Ricky Lamy before shooting past Kelly 12 yards before Furuhashi, then volleyed with a perfectly weighted pass from defender Anthony Ralston with reserved technique.

Motherwell had to regroup and striker Kevin Van Wein replaced Sean Goss, but that didn’t matter.

In the 59th minute, after Furuhashi’s pass to Maeda was deflected by his Japanese counterpart, Giotta intercepted a loose ball to pass past Kelly.

Tom Rogic received his second standing ovation after being replaced by James McCarthy.

Then, amid a series of shifts, Rogic received a standing ovation from fans and was hugged by his teammates as he went out for the last time and was clearly overwhelmed with emotion.

Celtic went ahead and in the 68th minute the defense of the steel allowed Giakumakis to execute a shot from above six yards.

There was more applause in the 85th minute when Beaton took over from captain Calum McGregor and he enjoyed his last moments in a green and white shirt, where Hyakumakis joined number six at close range in added time.

What they had to say

Manager Ange Postekoglu told Sky Sports that he is already planning for next season as he enjoys celebrating his title:

“We all start with the greatest ambitions and dreams. It was the narrowest league in several years. Rangers was exceptional this season.

“These boys were amazing – they spent 32 years without a loss. We had real clarity of purpose and a tunnel vision throughout the year. There were so many things that could stop us.

“I want you to enjoy, the players and the staff. Our families make the biggest sacrifice. If they smile one afternoon, I think that helps.

“I am just trying to figure it out. There will be a moment of reflection and understanding of what we have achieved. Like these legends, in 20 years we will have a magical moment.

“This afternoon, [I’ll stop] and then back to work tomorrow! This is a special moment. “

Tom Rogic struggled to hold back his tears as he said goodbye to the club he had called home for 10 seasons.

Tom Rogic says Celtic’s 6-0 win over Motherwell today seemed like the perfect send-off as he lifted his last trophy for the club.

“It’s hard to put into words. The club has been a huge part of my life.

“I can’t thank everyone enough. Today was a great departure and it was an emotional day for me and my family.

“I am happy that I had many great moments here, I was part of many great teams and I won many trophies. I look back on amazing moments and memories and I can only say great things about the club.

“Look at this atmosphere, it’s special.

“I hope the success continues and I will follow.”

Neir Beaton told Sky Sports that he is leaving Celtic the way he always planned:

Neir Beaton reflects on his time at Celtic as he lifts his club trophy

“It’s unbelievable. When I signed for this club, I knew that the expectations were high, but it was about winning trophies and bringing the club to the Champions League. I am happy that I finished at the top.

“I won many trophies, I had many ups and downs and injuries. But this club is about to win and after last season the players knew how much it meant to bring this title home. Glad we did it for the fans.

“There are so many moments along the way. I will never forget my debut, winning the treble is an amazing moment and this moment – that’s how I wanted to finish it.”
