Chase after car theft ends south of LA – NBC Los Angeles

A report of car theft in the San Gabriel Valley led to a chase on streets and highways in the Los Angeles area on Monday.

The chase began before 11 a.m. after a car theft alert in San Dimas, about 30 miles east of Los Angeles. Details of the car theft were not immediately available.

The chase involving the Chevy Colorado was in the San Dimas area until noon and on Highway 10 in Baldwin Park a few minutes later.

The driver took to the streets of the Alhambra before boarding the 710 motorway and reaching a speed of 100 miles per hour. California Traffic Patrol officers joined the chase and followed the driver through the streets of Commerce.

The driver slowed to about 20 miles per hour on Highway 5 in Santa Fe Springs before stopping on the side of the road. Soon the driver and the passenger surrendered to the deputy.
