LIV Golf published the list of flights last week for its first event at the Centurion Golf Club in London from 9 to 11 June. Six names were missing from this list, as only 42 were made public for the tournament with 48 people and 12 teams. There has been much speculation about missing half a dozen names, but with five reserved for the qualifying series on the Asian tour, LIV Golf announced on Monday that Phil Mickelson will be the last-place finisher. Mickelson has been offered around $ 200 million to join a competitive golf tour, according to the Golf Channel.
“I’m ready to come back to play the game I love, but after 32 years this new path is a new beginning, which is exciting for me at this stage of my career and is clearly transforming, not only for me, but in the ideal a case for the game and my peers, “Mickelson said in a statement.
“I’m excited to start with LIV Golf and I appreciate everyone involved. I also intend to play the majors.”
Despite the delay, it was always thought that Mickelson’s name would find a place on the roster, as he was the main player leading the rival tour, along with LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman. The 51-year-old has been out of the public spotlight since his conflicting comments about the regime in Saudi Arabia surfaced in late February.
“Phil Mickelson is clearly one of the greatest golfers of this generation,” said Norman. “His contribution to the sport and his relationship with fans around the world cannot be overstated. He is strengthening an exciting field for London, where we are proud to launch a new era for golf.”

Mickelson’s last taste in the PGA Tour came at the Farmers Insurance Open in January before playing for Saudi International. Mickelson did not attend any of the first two major championships of the year – the Masters and the PGA Championship – although he was eligible to play in both. The absence of the six-time PGA Championship winner was a bit of a surprise, as he was introduced to the field only to retire a week before defending his title.
