Children hit by a school bus in a Welsh village Wales

Five children were injured when they were hit by a school bus while waiting to return home after school in a Welsh village.

The incident happened around 15.25 in front of the high school in Llanfair Caereinion, Powys. The children are believed to be between 11 and 16 years old.

An Wales air ambulance was called to transport the children to hospital. No details were released about their condition. The bus driver was also taken to hospital.

Police are investigating. A spokesman said: “A school bus and several young pedestrians were involved in the collision. The bus driver and five children were taken to hospital. There were no passengers on the bus. The road is closed with deviations. Please avoid the area if possible. “

A local man said: “We heard that the driver must have died behind the wheel or fallen and hit the children who were waiting to return. It’s such a quiet place and it’s quite shocking. “
