Leo Crockwell continues to stick his nose in the law, delaying his own potential release from prison.
Crockwell is facing serious charges for assaulting two RCMP officers last Friday night in Whitless Bay.
He has been in custody ever since, displaying the same mistrust and disregard for the law for which he is known.
This goes back to the 2010 standoff with the Bay Bulls when he held the Mounties at bay for 8 days before he slipped up on them but was later arrested by the RNC.
Now 67, Crockwell is clearly upset that he’s back in prison, but he’s also doing nothing to help his cause for release. He has refused a psychiatric evaluation and will not leave his cell for a bail hearing.
Instead, so far his appearances have been by phone from the city jail.
Yesterday, Judge James Walsh offered Crockwell options to seek release, but this was met with tirades about his Charter rights and claims that the case would be held in an “inferior court”.
The court will try again this afternoon to persuade Crockwell to leave his cell for a bail hearing.
