Winnipeg firefighters battled a fire in an empty two-story apartment building on the Osborne River early Saturday morning that had been damaged by previous fires.
At around 2:20 a.m., crews were called to the Mayfair Avenue fire on the corner of Harkness Avenue, a Winnipeg press release said.
Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy smoke and flames from the building.
They used air ladders to put out the fire from above, as it was not safe to enter the burning building. The damage from the last fire, along with previous fires, has increased the risk of collapse, according to the fire service.

The building is a complete loss, as its rear is collapsing and its roof has collapsed.
No casualties were reported.
The fire was contained at 3:43 a.m., but fire crews were still on the scene later Saturday morning and were expected to stay there all morning to put out the hotspots.

Traffic on Mayfair Avenue will be affected until the work is completed.
The cause of the fire remains to be clarified.
