FC Toronto has signed defender Domenico Criscito

FC Toronto announced today that the club has signed Italian international defender Domenico Criscito, using money for target allocation (TAM) until 2023. Criscito will take a place on the international list and will join the club until he receives his certificate of international transfer ( ITC).

“Mimmo is a player who will add a valuable veteran presence to our team,” said Toronto President Bill Manning. “He has played in a number of important matches for the club and his country in his career, he was captain in Genoa and we are excited to join our club.”

The 35-year-old Criscito will join FC Toronto after spending the last 15 seasons between Genoa CFC and Zenit Football Club, where he played a combined 498 games, scoring 50 goals in the best European competitions, including Serie A. Russian Premier League, UEFA Champions League, Europa League.

Krishito recently played the last four seasons (2019-2022) with Genoa, where he played 109 games and scored 20 goals in his third and final stay with the Italian club. Krishito spent seven years at the top-class Russian club Zenit, where he played 224 games and scored 20 goals in all competitions (Russian Premier League, Russian Cup, Russian Super Cup, UEFA Europa League and UEFA Champions League). In seven seasons with Zenit, Krishito won three titles, including: the Russian Premier League (2011/2012 and 2014/2015), the Russian Cup (2015/2016) and the Russian Super Cup (2015 and 2016).

“Mimo is a universal defender who is a very good passer and smart player,” said Toronto head coach and athletic director Bob Bradley. “He can play as a left-back or center-back and should be a great role model for our young players.”

Krishito began his professional career with Genoa, where he made his Serie B debut in June 2003 at the age of 16. Krishito joined the Serie A team Juventus in 2015, where he played nine games before going on loan to Genoa in 2008. During his second period with Genoa, Krishito played 125 games and scored six goals.

Internationally, Krishito represented his country in the U-17, U-18, U-19, U-20 and U-21 categories, including the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China. He made his debut for the senior team in a friendly match against Switzerland on 12 August 2009. He has 26 appearances in competitions, including: FIFA World Cup qualifiers (UEFA), the 2010 FIFA World Cup, UEFA European Championship qualifiers and UEFA League matches. UEFA nations.
