Ryan Giggs, the former Manchester United footballer, was a “manipulative” abuser who headbutted his girlfriend after she tried to end their “toxic” relationship, a court was told yesterday.
Giggs, 48, was ‘idolised’ for his skills on the pitch but behind closed doors he had a ‘much uglier and more sinister side to his character’, Manchester’s Minshull Street Crown Court was told.
He is said to have ‘lost control’ and attacked Kate Greville, 38, at his home in Worsley, Greater Manchester, when she left him, and is accused of using controlling and coercive behavior against her between August 2017 .and November 2020
He is also charged with assaulting her causing actual bodily harm and common assault on her younger sister Emma by elbowing her
