Gov. Tim Waltz took executive action Saturday to provide reproductive health services to residents of Minnesota’s neighboring states in the event they lose access to home abortion care.
Executive Order 22-16 takes effect immediately to assist both Minnesota and other states, the governor’s office said Saturday morning.
The order says the governor will reject requests for the extradition of non-Minnesota residents who are accused of committing reproductive health acts that are legal in Minnesota.
As long as abortions remain legal in Minnesota, Minnesota’s neighboring states are expected to severely restrict reproductive freedom.

22-16 also prohibits Minnesota government agencies from assisting other states in sanctioning those who seek or provide services that are legal in Minnesota.
Within this scope, Walz orders government agencies to protect those who seek and provide reproductive or abortion services to the fullest extent of their powers.

Later Saturday, Waltz and Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan will host Democrats Klobuchar and Smith for a press conference at 2 p.m. in the state capital.
The four employees are expected to respond to Roe’s cancellation on Friday against Wade along with Sarah Stoes, chief executive of Planned Parenthood North Central States.
