LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A transformer at Hoover Dam caught fire Tuesday morning, causing an explosion and plumes of smoke.
The Boulder City Fire Department said the fire was extinguished when crews arrived.
Bureau of Reclamation Regional Director Jacklynn L. Gould said around 10 a.m. that transformer A5 caught fire and was extinguished around 10:30 a.m.
Gould said no patrons or employees were injured. Also, there was no risk to the power grid and electricity was still being generated by the power plant.
The Boulder City Fire Department is en route to an emergency call at Hoover Dam. No additional information is available at this time.
