At the last stop of his tour of the United Kingdom, just days after winning a multimillion-dollar defamation lawsuit against Amber Heard, Johnny Depp was spotted holding a small badger in Kent.
“Guess who was to see us,” the Folly Wildlife Rescue Trust wrote in a Facebook post Thursday that garnered thousands of likes. “This is the real Johnny Depp!”
The actor visited on a break from touring with musician Jeff Beck, patron of the charity. Depp accompanied Beck’s wife, Sandra, wrote to the charity as they toured the hospital, and he was holding an orphaned Freddie badger, “Mercury-like,” he added.
The US defamation case ended in Depp’s favor on Wednesday, with the court finding that a Washington Post editorial written by Hurd slandered her ex-husband.

Three of Depp’s claims were supported, and one of Hurd’s three claims. The parties were awarded $ 10.35 million and $ 2 million, respectively, leading to outrage from experts in the field of sexual and domestic violence, who in various ways called the sentence a “toxic disaster” and a “failure for all women.” Hurd plans to appeal.
In a statement after the sentencing, Depp said “the jury brought my life back” six years after he was charged with domestic violence. “I’m really humble,” he said.
In the charity’s Facebook post, one user wrote: “Be good, if he gave you his village, he doesn’t need the money!” Another said: “How fantastic! What a wonderful way for him to calm down after a terrible time! ”
The outcome of the defamation lawsuit was different from that in the United Kingdom less than two years ago. In 2020, Depp lost a lawsuit against Sun after Hurd provided evidence to support the newspaper’s claims that he was a “women’s fighter.” The judge found that 12 of the 14 alleged incidents of domestic violence against Hurd had occurred.
On Tuesday night, before the US verdict, Depp appeared on stage with 77-year-old Beck at the Royal Albert Hall for the second night in a row and was greeted with applause. Before that, he appeared surprisingly in the musician’s show in Sheffield.
His presence in the United Kingdom surprised many as he awaited sentencing for what has become one of the most toxic and highly televised court battles in Hollywood. Following the U.S. verdict, Hurd’s attorney general said the seven-member jury was influenced by “distorted” social media posts and that the presence of cameras turned the courtroom into a “zoo.”
