KATE Garraway has shared a heartbreaking update on husband Derek Draper’s health following his devastating battle with Covid.
The star revealed her agony after Derek suffered a “frightening” turn for the worse in recent weeks and was left “fighting for his life”.

Devoted Kate, 55, said this afternoon: “Thank you so much for all your messages of support – they really mean everything to me and the whole family.
“Over the last 3 weeks I’ve taken some time off from @gmb @smootradio & @garrawaysgoodatuff as Derek’s health took an unexpected and frightening turn, landing him back in ICU and fighting for his life again.”
Kate said Derek, 54, has now stabilized and she will resume her duties on Good Morning Britain and Smooth Radio next week.
“Thanks to the amazing nhs teams and his own amazing vitality and spirit Derek – please 🙏 God – now back on the right side and looking forward to seeing you again at @gmb from 6am tomorrow and on @smoothradio,” she said.
“Hopefully celebrating the @lionesses #worldcup win! Love ❤️ and see you in the morning!”
Kate’s friends and fans have rallied around her, with one writing: ‘Sending you and your family positive thoughts and love. This is the news everyone wanted to hear. ❤️”

The Sun revealed that Derek has taken a “very serious turn” which has forced Kate to step down from the GMB household.
He suffered devastating health problems after contracting Covid at the start of the 2020 pandemic.
Kate tirelessly juggled caring for him while working in TV and radio, as well as bringing up their two children, Darcy, 16, and Billy, 12.
The Sun revealed that he had been readmitted to specialist care after failing to recover, according to those close to Kate’s family.
A spokesperson for Good Morning Britain told The Sun: “Kate is taking some time off work over the next few days and hopes to return to her normal presenting duties as soon as possible.”
