Kate McKinnon, Pete Davidson among 4 cast members leaving SNL

Kate McKinnon and Pete Davidson are among those leaving Saturday Night Live, leaving the institution for a sketch comedy without probably its two most famous names after Saturday’s finale of the 47th season.

Eddie Bryant and Kyle Mooney will also leave the cast after the episode hosted by Natasha Lyon.

The departures are one of the biggest changes in the cast over the years of the show, which has seen unusual stability in recent seasons.

McKinnon, 38, won two Emmys and was nominated for nine of her 10 seasons on the NBC show, during which her impressions included Hillary Clinton and former Attorney General Jeff Sessions. Her comic moments with characters like Miss Rafferty abducted by aliens often made colleagues and guest hosts lose it live.

McKinnon opened the show with a sketch out of this world and said his last goodbye to Earth.

“I love you, thank you for letting me stay for a while. “Live from New York, it’s Saturday night,” she said to open the show.

The 28-year-old Davidson joined the cast in 2014 and has appeared in eight seasons. His own great personality often surpassed the characters he played. His comic comments like himself on Weekend Updates were often his most viral parts. He was just as famous for his off-screen life – meeting Ariana Grande and current girlfriend Kim Kardashian – and beyond.

“I never imagined it would be my life,” Davidson said during the show. “I appreciate SNL for always keeping my back, for allowing me to work on myself and grow.

“Thank you for [SNL creator and producer] Lorne [Michaels] for never giving up on me or condemning me, even when everyone else stayed, for believing in me and allowing me to have a place I could call home with memories that will last a lifetime. Thank you.”

The 35-year-old Bryant joined the cast at the same time as McKinnon and has been a regular in the sketches ever since. She has four Emmy nominations of her own, including one for her starring role in the comedy series Hulu Shrill.

The 37-year-old Mooney has appeared in nine seasons, starting in 2013. He recently starred in the Netflix series Saturday Morning All Star Hits!
