Kieran Williams: Two men charged with murder after finding the body of a missing man

Two men have been charged with murder after the body of an 18-year-old man was found in Sunderland.

Northumbria police have identified the victim as Kieran Williams, who was found dead on June 2 after a lengthy search after his disappearance on April 18.

The search for the teenager included collecting video surveillance footage, house-to-house searches and telecommunications analysis.

Two 19-year-old men arrested in a police investigation are now charged with his murder.

The couple is due to appear before magistrates in South Tyneside on June 6.

Two other men, aged 20 and 28, and a 46-year-old woman, who were also arrested in connection with the investigation, remain on bail with police pending further investigation.

Detective Inspector Matt Steele, the investigating officer, said: “Again, our thoughts remain with Kieran’s loved ones during this unimaginable time.

“Over the last few weeks, we have conducted in-depth investigations into Kieran’s disappearance and alleged murder, and I would like to thank everyone for their patience and cooperation.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the team of staff working tirelessly on this case, as well as all those who came out with information to support our inquiries.

“Now that charges have been brought against these two suspects, I would ask the public to refrain from any speculation – both on social media and in the wider community – that could jeopardize the trial.

A heartbreaking tribute to Williams was paid to Facebook.

One man wrote: “Have great memories of Kieran when you were at Ashbrook School! A wonderful boy and with so much potential! Thoughts are with his family in this horrible moment!

Another published: “My heart is broken. I spent weeks looking at every person I passed to see if it was him. He was so wonderful that he even put £ 5 in my collection at school when I went on maternity leave. He was a really good kid. “

A third person writes: “I knew him for a short time, but even during that time I saw that he was a good boy. I hope his family gets the answers they deserve. ”
