Opening tip
Celtics 0-0 Warriors, 11:45, first quarter
And here we go! The Celtics won in the beginning and took the ball to Marcus Smart, who was immediately tied up by Draymond Green for another jump ball.
Posting this tweet is all I will say about it, because I want to focus on basketball.
um, cee-lo performing this anthem is … well, do ya googles.

National anthem
Cee-Lo Green performs the national anthem. So much for the “culture of revocation”.
I will not appreciate this.
The pre-game montage is on Warriors: the story shifts to them as to those whose series is online. The Celtics have somehow done their job to ensure a split road, so the pressure is on the Warriors.
Oddly enough, that’s why I have a Golden State, I don’t trust Boston, when they start to feel good about themselves, then they start making casual mistakes and … wait, am I describing myself here?
I hope that I will recover from this accidental personal insight in time for the Opening Council, which is coming soon.
Note, the T-shirts that the Celtics and Warriors wore during the warm-up were not just banalists, they included links to relevant organizations.

Summary of “around the league” news: Quinn Snyder retired as Utah Jazz coach, citing the team’s need for new blood. He is probably right, given that the team may have been late with major repairs.
It’s funny that he waited while the Los Angeles Lakers hired their own head coach before making the announcement. Of course, at least they would like an interview.
Forecasts
The Celtics won one of the two along the way to start this series, so in the end I think I’ll be right here in a more general sense. Of course, I initially made them win this game, not game 1. So, in a more accurate sense, I was wrong the first time. Whatever comes out of the laundry.
So to make my broader prediction true, I have to predict the Warriors’ victory today to level the playing field. Maybe the Warriors 101-98 Boston Celtics. Yes, I have one that comes down to the wire.
Yes, that’s how my brain works. No, I don’t have a real basketball argument to support this claim, other than “vibrations” (and the fact that the Celtics had a problem with, uh, not gaining momentum after big wins this postseason). It just seems like a long, chaotic series, so why not guess any result that ruins as many stories as possible. This is just my own prediction, you can email hunter.felt.freelance@theguardia.com or tweet @HunterFelt with your own forecast and we will include it here as we make our way to the Opening Council.
Dress before the game
Both the Celtics and the Warriors wore orange T-shirts before the End Gun Violence game. Nice gesture and it’s always nice to see two teams get together shortly before dedicating the next few hours to destroying each other.
There’s a show called The Last Straw that ABC is doing right now (produced by Peyton Manning) and … it’s just Jenga: The Television Show?
Injury report
Potentially bad news for Golden State. Game 1 involved pure injuries (even Sam Hauser of Boston ended up playing, even when the benches were empty), but Game 2 didn’t. A few hours ago, it was announced that veteran Andre Iguodala would come out with a swollen knee. He was indeed a part-time player for the Warriors, but he is still a capable contributor and Warriors would rather have him available than not.
However, the good news far outweighs the bad. After being available in emergency capacity for Game 1, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said Gary Peyton II should be available to play off the bench tonight. Defender Gary’s son Glove Peyton (in case you want to feel old), Peyton II (nicknamed the Glove) was a key part of the Warriors’ revival this season.
Preamble
You can’t predict basketball. When the Golden State Warriors built a 12-point lead over the Boston Celtics in the fourth quarter, I predicted as follows: “So, can Boston make up for the 12-point deficit? It’s not impossible, but Tatum will need a big game and the defense will have to be impeccable. “
Well, I was half right. The Celtics really had to play flawlessly defending, holding back the most powerful attack in the Western Conference with just 16 points, but Tatum didn’t score a single point from there. In fact, he scored just 12 points on Thursday, the same amount of assists he gave (Tatum’s credit for not allowing one night of shooting to stop him from helping his team in other ways).
So the Warriors lost a double-digit lead late, at home, on a day when they did their best to keep their opponent’s best player. Now they lose 0-1 in the NBA Finals, where almost everyone (including this writer) considered them favorites. This means that today’s game 2 is the biggest game they have had to play since Kevin Durant was still in the squad.
So, will they return tonight with a huge win or will the Celtics take advantage of their shocking Game 1 victory and stay in the 2022 NBA season? I have my own predictions, but I will wait and let you guess what they could be. Let me just say that this postseason is like the last season of “Better Call Sol.” It will not be as one of us thinks.
What you can anticipate is that we will use your thoughts, questions and / or concerns in this live blog. You can email them at hunter.felt.freelance@theguardian.com or tweet them at @HunterFelt and we will post them during today’s game. This is Game 2 of the 2022 NBA Finals between the Boston Celtics and the Golden State Warriors at the Chase Center in San Francisco. The opening is scheduled sometime after 8pm EST, but we’ll be back long before that with more updates, forecasts and the occasional fun waste of time.
Hunter will be here soon. In the meantime, here are some thoughts on game 1:
Sometimes it’s hard to find the right words, whether you’re competing in the National Spelling Bee or another high-profile high-voltage competition on Thursday night, the first game of the NBA Finals.
Al Horford was simple. No sophisticated phraseology, no strain on meaning. “My boys found me tonight and I knocked them down,” Horford told ABC after his central role in the Boston Celtics’ 120-108 stunning and bizarre 120-108 victory over the Golden State Warriors. “Very funny.”
The race, which began with Stephen Curry’s three-point overtime production line, ended with a much more unpredictable spectacle by Horford, who scored from a distance and inspired his teammates to do the same as they closed the 12-point deficit in the fourth quarter. .
A 15-year-old NBA veteran who made his debut in the finals the day before his 36th birthday, Horford scored the Celtics best with 26 points, including six three-pointers in his career. In the most dominant quarter in the history of the NBA Finals, the Celtics stormed towards the end, sinking seven consecutive threes on the way to nine against 12.
