Robert Lewandowski announced that his time at Bayern Munich was over and said he did not believe the club would hold him against his will.
The striker wants to join Barcelona after reaching an oral agreement on a three-year contract, but Bayern insisted he stay for the last season of his deal.
Speaking at a press conference with Poland before the League of Nations match at home against Wales on Wednesday, Lewandowski said: “My era in Bayern is over. I don’t see any opportunity to continue playing for this club. “
The 33-year-old has been with Bayern since 2014 and hopes to show flexibility in terms of transfers. “Bayern is a serious club and I believe they will not keep me – I do not want to play there anymore,” he said. “Relocation is the best solution. I hope they don’t stop me. “
Two weeks ago, Bayern president Herbert Heiner was adamant that there was no room for maneuver. He told German TV channel Sport1: “Robert has a contract until 2023. He will play with us for so long.”

Heiner noted that Lewandowski joined Bayern for free after his contract with Borussia Dortmund expired, and said the club was ready to lose him for next year. “There is no substitute for such a world-class player,” Heiner said. “He has a contract, so I guess he’s fulfilling it. It is his right not to renew his contract. “
Lewandowski has scored 35 goals in the Bundesliga in 34 games this season and 13 goals in 10 Champions League games.
