Okanagan’s innovation sector will try to “hack” one of the region’s major problems.

Accelerate Okanagan organized a one-day hackathon on June 23, called Hacking House, at the Innovation Center to build solutions and business models to address housing affordability.

“Hackathons are a great opportunity to collaborate and build new relationships in the community. Whether you’re working in the housing industry, a current Okanagan resident, or new to the area and want to expand your network, this is a great opportunity to get involved, ”said Alex Goodhu, Community Manager at Accelerate Okanagan.

“The teamwork I see at these events is really inspiring and I’m excited to see what ideas come to the participants.”

At the event, participants will be introduced to “design thinking” – a process that can bring the idea to life for hours. Teams will be formed to create sustainable business models for solutions.

At the end of the day, the teams will present their ideas to a jury and an audience of community members at a public event held at the new Chitalishte center of Metro.

This event is open to all who are interested in developing innovative thinking and building creative solutions to the critical challenge facing our community. You don’t have to be an encoder or work in IT to participate in a hackathon.
