LIVE transfer news: Ronaldo’s Manchester United exit request, Chelsea face £70m fee, De Jong hint | soccer | sport

Arsenal have reportedly not made a bid for Juventus midfielder Artur Melo, despite reports to the contrary a few weeks ago.

The Gunners have been heavily linked with the Brazilian since the January transfer window as they look to bolster Mikel Arteta’s midfield.

Earlier in July, it was stated that the movement was close to this.

However, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano insisted the Premier League club had not made a bid for Arthur. Instead, he could join Valencia on loan, with his parent club paying the bulk of his wages.

The 25-year-old has struggled for game time at Juventus of late, with Max Allegri favoring a more solid midfield.
