Live updates as William and Kate visit Wales as part of the platinum anniversary celebrations

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are in Wales today with Prince George and Princess Charlotte on the third day of the Queen’s platinum anniversary weekend. The royal family will meet some of Wales’ most famous performers before a festive concert at Cardiff Castle.

William and Kate and their children arrived at the castle to meet the performers and the team participating in a special Platinum Jubilee gala concert held at the castle on Saturday afternoon.

The couple and their children have to watch the rehearsals and meet some of the artists involved in the festivities, including Welsh singer Bonnie Tyler. Last week, Bonnie received an MBE in celebration of the Queen’s birthday for her contributions to music.

Members of the royal family will also meet with meteorologist Owen Win Evans, who is known for his role in the nightly news program North West Tonight and The One Show.

The Cambridge family and their children will then be introduced to a number of performers from the West End, the Rubicon Dance Company and the Welsh Youth Choir for Good.

Prince Louis, who stole the show when he appeared on the balcony of Buckingham Palace with his family and queen after the Trooping the Color ceremony on Thursday, has disappeared.

The performances will end at 19:00 and then the audience can watch the platinum party in the palace on giant screens in the castle. Read everything you need to know about the concert here.

At this event, the Duke of Cambridge and his father, the Prince of Wales, will take the stage to pay their respects to the Queen during a star-studded anniversary concert. The future kings will speak separately in honor of the monarch at the end of the BBC open-air show, which took place in front of Buckingham Palace on Saturday night.

Diana Ross, Queen + Adam Lambert, Alicia Keys, Hans Zimmer, George Ezra and Eurovision 2022 runner-up Sam Ryder are among the celebrities preparing to entertain a live audience of 22,000 and a television audience of millions.

It is believed that the queen is unlikely to attend the concert, but confirmation of any movements will be published on the day. She will not be attending the Epsom derby on Saturday, but the avid runner will be glued to the TV watching the events from Windsor.

The 96-year-old queen, who faces ongoing mobility problems, withdrew from a thanksgiving service at St. Paul’s Cathedral on Friday after feeling uncomfortable after two appearances on a balcony and a lighthouse on Thursday. Nearly 50 members of the royal family, including the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, have joined in honor of the absent head of state on religious occasions.

The Duchess of Cambridge said later that the Queen enjoyed Thursday’s festivities, but the day was “very tiring”. Saturday is the first birthday of Harry and Megan Lilibet’s daughter, who is traveling with the Sussex family and older brother Archie for her first visit to Britain.
