Maddie Hill left her role as Nancy Carter in EastEnders.
The unannounced departure happened tonight (Thursday, June 23, 2022), as Nancy left Walford after a difficult week.
In recent episodes, Nancy has learned that her boyfriend Zack Hudson (James Farrar) has cheated on her with Sam Mitchell (Kim Medcalfe) after a series of arguments. As Zack desperately tried to keep his relationship intact, Nancy, heartbroken, was stunned when he offered.
Thinking of forgiving him, Nancy finally visited her mother Linda (Kelly Bright) after she was discharged from the hospital after the car accident. The mother and daughter shared a much-needed heart, but when Nancy found a bottle of vodka, the moment was ruined.
When he told Linda he couldn’t trust her, Nancy knew the same could be said for Zack, and she officially put an end to it.

Nancy then revealed that she was leaving forever. Linda tried to persuade her to stay and was shocked to learn that Nancy was planning to take baby Annie with her. Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks) manipulates the situation, forcing Nancy to return Annie to Linda.
But Nancy’s decision was made as to her own departure, and after an emotional farewell to the rest of the clan, Nancy left the square while Linda watched.

Did Nancy Carter leave EastEnders forever?

Unfortunately, it was confirmed to RadioTimes.com that this was indeed Maddie Hill’s last appearance as Nancy Carter, so she will not be back soon!
While there is every chance she will return at some point in the future, this is indeed a real way out for Ms. Carter.
Regarding Maddie Hill’s departure, an EastEnders spokesman told RadioTimes.com: “We wish Maddie all the best for the future.”
Speaking about her departure, Maddie Hill herself commented: “It was great to review Nancy and Square over the last year, but for now I felt it was a good time to move on.
“I miss everyone now and I feel so grateful to work with people I love so much.”
Of course, fans will remember that this is not the first time that actress Maddie Hill has left the BBC soap.
The star had previously appeared from 2014 to 2016, when she left the soap and Nancy emigrated with her partner Tamvar Masood (Himesh Patel), but returned only last year after the couple’s marriage fell apart off screen.
Nancy’s last outing comes when EastEnders are preparing for Nancy’s father’s upcoming outing, Mick (Danny Dyer), who has been on the road for some time.
However, it was recently confirmed that co-star Bright will remain in the BBC soap in the role of Linda.
As the number of the Carter clan dwindles, how will the rest of the family cope without the strong Nancy?
