Masking requirements have dropped in more facilities in Essex County

More facilities in Essex County have removed the camouflage requirements.

Essex County officials say this is in line with changes recently announced by the provincial government regarding COVID-19.

“The county administration will monitor the situation with COVID-19 at the local and provincial levels, making future changes to corporate practices if necessary,” the county said in a statement.

The public, tenants and staff are no longer required to wear masks while in county facilities, as long as they can maintain a distance of at least two meters (six feet) from others.

This includes the Essex County Civic Center, Essex County Library Branches and other county-run buildings.

The only exception is Sun Parlor Home, where masks will continue to be mandatory to protect vulnerable residents, as required by the Ontario Department of Health and Long-Term Care.

Members of the Essex-Windsor EMS team will continue to wear masks during all patient interactions and upon entering any facility, such as a hospital or long-term care home, where masking is required.

They are no longer required to wear masks in EMS and county buildings and while in EMS vehicles, except while providing patient care.

The Essex County Council will meet in person at the Civic Center on Wednesday, June 15, with members and staff observing social distancing when not wearing masks. Members of the public and the media are invited to join in while watching the live broadcast.
