Matlock Fire: Firefighters fight a fire the size of a football field next to Derbyshire Golf Course

Fire crews from all over Derbyshire have been sent to a forest fire near Matlock Golf Club. Residents in the area are advised to keep windows and doors closed.

The Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service told Derbyshire Live that the fire was first reported at 1:40 p.m. this afternoon (June 22) near the 11th floor of Sandy Lane’s Matlock Golf Course. Crews from Matlock, Clay Cross, Chesterfield, Ilkeston, Glossop and Buxton are currently battling the blaze.

The first reports of the fire service show that the fire covers an area of ​​150 by 50 meters – approximately the size of a football field. A specialized Unimog argocat (all-terrain vehicle) and a water carrier are used at the scene.

The Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service tweeted: “Please note that we have a large open fire near the Sandy Lane area of ​​Matlock. This includes 150×50 m of bushes and forests. Crews use nozzles for hose reels, knuckles and water backpacks to put out the fire. Keep in mind that there is smoke in the area. “
