CASPER, Wyo. — With near-record heat expected in areas of western and central Wyoming, fire danger is expected to be high Monday, according to the National Weather Service in Riverton.
Critical fire weather conditions are expected in parts of Fremont County with near-critical conditions expected in most other low-lying areas of western and central Wyoming on Monday. Isolated afternoon thunderstorms are possible, the NWS forecast in Riverton.
Casper is expected to reach a high near 101 degrees on Monday. The record for July 18 in Casper is 103 degrees, set in 1998, according to the NWS in Riverton. Casper has a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4 PM Monday. Wind gusts could reach 40 miles per hour.
Elevated fire weather conditions will be possible for parts of western and central Wyoming on Tuesday, especially in the southwestern part of the state, the NWS in Riverton predicted.
Casper can expect a high near 93 degrees on Tuesday. Wind gusts could reach 33 mph.
Wednesday’s high is forecast near 94 degrees in Casper with possible wind gusts of up to 26 mph. Thursday is again expected to reach near 94 degrees with possible wind gusts of up to 29 mph. Casper could reach near 95 degrees on Friday.
The weekend is expected to be slightly cooler with a high near 90 degrees Saturday and a high Sunday near 87 degrees, according to the NWS in Riverton. A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms on Saturday and a chance of showers and thunderstorms on Sunday.
