Newfoundland and Labrador have the highest life satisfaction rates of any province in the country.
This is shown by new data published by Statistics Canada.
According to their number, just over 61% of people gave a “life satisfaction rating” between eight and 10.
This number is much higher than the average for Canada as a whole, which is 51 percent.
When broken down by gender, the rate is 66% for men in this province, also the highest in Canada.
The number is 57 percent for women, which is higher than the national average of 50 percent and second only to Quebec across the country.
Statistics Canada looked at six factors that contribute to quality of life, half of which are related to social relationships, including life satisfaction, sense of meaning and purpose, prospects for the future, loneliness, having someone to rely on and belonging to the local community.
Statistics show that Ontario is the loneliest province, with 15% of people saying they always or often feel lonely, while 59% of people in that province say they have rarely or never felt lonely.
