The leader of the New Democratic Party of Ontario says he tested positive for COVID-19.
Andrea Horvath says she tested positive in a quick test this morning.
Horvat said in a statement that he would have to make some adjustments, but would “continue to connect with people as much as I can.”
She had to make an announcement at Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, today, but is now campaigning remotely from a hotel in Ottawa, following public health tips.
Horvat will miss a campaign tour of planned stops in several cities in northern Ontario in the coming days, as current provincial public health rules require people to isolate themselves for five days after the onset of COVID-19 symptoms for the first time or after a positive test result, whichever comes first.
She was diagnosed in the middle of a provincial election campaign a day after Mike Schreiner, the leader of the Ontario Green Party, tested positive for COVID-19.
