The integration of Audi Apple Music gives direct access to the 2022 models

The new integration of Audi Apple Music means that owners of almost all models from 2022 will be able to play the music streaming service directly from the built-in infotainment system. No connection to your iPhone is required.

The company says that existing owners of models from 2022 will also receive the feature through an update over the air …

The company announced this today.

Audi integrates Apple Music, a premium subscription for music streaming, directly into select models. Adding Apple Music to the infotainment system gives users the ability to access their subscription directly and intuitively from the Multimedia Interface (MMI) screen using in-car Internet data. This seamless integration allows Apple Music subscribers to find their favorite music and discover even more new music.

Apple Music’s new integration allows customers to access their personal Apple Music account directly from Audi’s infotainment system without the need for Bluetooth or USB. After connecting an active subscription to the vehicle, Apple Music subscribers have access to Apple’s full catalog of 90 million songs and tens of thousands of playlists, including hundreds of new mood and activity playlists, custom mixes and genre stations – all without ads. Apple Music integration will be included in almost all Audi cars in Europe, North America and Japan, starting in the 2022 model year. The integration will be conveniently implemented in vehicles that are already on the road through automatic over-the-air updates.

The company naturally takes the opportunity to talk about its in-car sound systems at the same time.

Audi creates an individual acoustic experience for each model, and digital signal processing provides well-balanced sound. For example, the signals from the speakers can be controlled with an individual time shift and thus reach the listener at the same time. Sound design goes even further to create the best acoustic experience. This is where Audi sound developers tune the frequency response to create Audi’s typical yet subjective sound.

Audi has been working with Bang & Olufsen in this context for many years, which has led to the development of some exceptional sound systems, such as the B&O Premium Sound System with 3D sound in the Audi e-tron GT. Here, 16 speakers, including 3D speakers, a center speaker and a subwoofer, provide impressive audio.

German carmaker Porsche is offering similar integration in some 2019 models.
