The first lady will leave the United States on Thursday night, arriving at Mihail Cogalnicanu Air Force Base in Romania on Friday – a base for the NATO Response Force – where she will meet with US troops, the White House said in a statement.
The tour from Thursday to May 9 also includes meetings with government officials, US embassy officials and aid workers who are helping to educate displaced Ukrainian children and support them and their families during the crisis.
On Mother’s Day, the first lady will meet with Ukrainian mothers and children in Košice and Vyshne Nemecke, Slovakia, who have been forced to leave their homes.
