SUNOL, Calif. (KGO) – Evacuation orders were revoked due to a 71-acre wildfire burning near Sunol and Pleasanton on Thursday afternoon, CAL FIRE reported.
WHAT YOU KNOW: Fires are currently burning in Sunol, Benicia, Vacaville, Port Costa
The canyon fire is burning on the ridge between Fremont and Pleasanton, north of Niles Canyon, according to Fremont Fire Department officials.
No casualties were reported. A building, probably an outbuilding, was destroyed.
Evacuation orders have been revoked for residents of Kilkare Road as well as those in the Golden Eagle Estate community.
Alameda County Sheriff’s Office officials say 450 homes have been evacuated.
Of great concern to the first responders during the blaze was that Kilcare Road in Sunol was one-way, in and out. Sergeant JD Nelson told ABC7 that if the fire reached the road, there would be no way to evacuate the people.

Officials say if you travel in the area of Kilcare Rd. Sunol, please drive carefully as there are many fire trucks in the area. Foothill Rd. is closed from Bernal Ave to Castlewood Rd.
Mutual assistance was requested from Fremont Fire, Alameda County Fire and CAL FIRE.
ABC7 News receives reports that the power line has been shut down and PG&E teams are on site.
