Police have filed a request to extend the bail of Manchester United striker Mason Greenwood following his arrest on suspicion of rape, assault and death threats.
The attacker was arrested for the first time by police on Sunday (January 30th) after a report was made of online images and videos on social media posted by a woman reporting cases of physical violence.
The 20-year-old Greenwood is currently under bail. That was due to expire tomorrow (April 30th), police confirmed last month.
In an update released today (April 29th), Greater Manchester police said a request has now been made to the court to extend his bail. This hearing will not take place until mid-June.

Until then, Greenwood will remain under bail, officials said. A statement issued by Greater Manchester Police today (April 29) said: “We are continuing to investigate a report made to us on Sunday (January 30th) for online images and videos on social media posted by a woman reporting physical incidents. violence. A 20-year-old man arrested that day on suspicion of raping and assaulting a woman and threatening to kill remains on bail.
“An application has been made to the court to extend his bail after Saturday, April 30, but the hearing is expected to take place by mid-June. The suspect will remain on bail until the date of the hearing. “
The United Academy graduate has been removed from the club until further notice. He has not played for the club since the Premier League match against West Ham on 22 January.
After initially severing ties with the striker, Nike also confirmed that their partnership with him was over. GMP confirmed that Greenwood’s prosecutor had been offered “specialized support”.
