Police identify 13-year-old boys who drowned while swimming in New York

Police on Saturday identified the two teenagers who drowned on Friday while swimming with friends in the Gulf of Jamaica.

Ryan Wong and Daniel Perso, both 13, were standing on a sandy beach in Jamaica’s Bay near 96th Street Beach and Cross Bay Boulevard around 11:40 a.m. Friday when it apparently collapsed and they sank underwater. said the cops.

When the two never showed up, NYPD Harbor, NYPD Aviation and FDNY were sent to conduct a rescue operation.

The FDNY had nine swimmers looking for the teens, according to fire officials.

Both teenagers were rushed to a hospital in Jamaica, where they were pronounced dead, according to police.

According to cops, both Wong and Perso lived in South Richmond Hill.

“Rest in peace, little Ryan, I love you,” she wrote. “You will live forever in our hearts.”

Persaud’s heartbroken mother, Samantha Singh, also took to Facebook early Saturday.

“Our son who left us today, I am lost in words and my soul is bleeding and our hearts are broken,” she wrote. “Oh God, I don’t know how we will live today or another day мой my son, my beautiful smart son Daniel Perso, you have left your family, my son… my prince Daniel is sleeping high, my mother loves you so much.”

“He was only 13 years old and you went to the beach to have fun and that took you away from us,” she wrote.
