Ponoka Stampede: A woman killed by horses

A 30-year-old woman is dead after falling from a horse in Ponoka Stampede on Sunday.

Police told CTV News Edmonton that the woman was trampled by multiple horses after being thrown from her horse.

Occupational health and safety confirmed that the victim was a volunteer.

OHS is now investigating. An oral suspension order was issued for the “wild horse” segment of the tribune ceremonies.

Ponoka Stampede is scheduled to begin on Monday.

The Ponoka Pushing Association will comment on the fatal incident on Monday morning.
