Roman Abramovich bids farewell as Chelsea acquisition approaches confirmation Chelsea

Chelsea have confirmed an agreement to sell the club to Todd Boelli. The deal is expected to be completed on Monday, and Roman Abramovich wrote goodbye as he handed over the property.

The Russian oligarch wrote on the club’s website: “It has been almost three months since I announced my intention to sell Chelsea FC. During this time, the team is working hard to find the right guard for Chelsea FC, who would be best positioned to successfully lead the club in its next chapter.

“The ownership of this club comes with great responsibility. Ever since I came to Chelsea almost 20 years ago, I have witnessed first hand what this club can achieve. My goal was to ensure that the next owner has a mindset that will enable the men’s and women’s teams to succeed, as well as the will and drive to continue to develop other key aspects of the club, such as the Chelsea Foundation academy and vital work.

“I am just happy that this search has come to a successful end. As I hand over Chelsea to his new bodyguards, I would like to wish them the best of luck, both on and off the field.

Abramovich, who announced the sale of the club after being sanctioned by his country’s invasion of Ukraine, said it was a “lifelong honor” to play for Chelsea. “I would like to thank all the past and present players of the club, the staff and, of course, the fans for these amazing years,” he said. “I am proud that, as a result of our joint success, millions of people will now benefit from the new charitable foundation that is being set up. This is the legacy we have created together. ”
