Suffolk: Ed Sheeran and Nandi Bushell take part in the competition

Suffolk superstars Ed Sheeran and Nandy Bushell took to the main stage of the Platinum Competition in front of Buckingham Palace.

Framlingham-based megastar Ed Sheeran closed the competition by performing his hit ballad “Perfect” along with a video montage of Queen Elizabeth’s 70-year reign before she appeared on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to wave to the crowd.

Speaking before his BBC presentation, he said: “For me, it’s kind of a full circle, a moment of nostalgia, because this is the event I picked up a guitar 20 years ago after seeing Eric Clapton play on stage.

“And then I had to play it 10 years ago for the Diamond Jubilee. It’s really nice to be back, it’s just a great atmosphere. “

The singer described the event as a moment of “tweaking”, but noted that he felt “great” before going on stage. He added that he would return to see his newborn second child tonight for curry.

Twelve-year-old Ipswich drummer sensation Nandi Bushell took the stage as one of the “icons of the future”.

In recent years, Nandi has achieved fame with her online performances.

Her performance saw her play drums at the Victoria Memorial in front of Buckingham Palace, surrounded by a crowd of purple dancers as members of the royal family watched.

This is the second time she has participated in the weekend celebrations.

Last night she performed the song “Instruction” with DJ Jax Jones and rapper Stefflon Don at the Queen’s Platinum Party at the Palace.

She then wrote on Instagram: “Wow! I can’t believe you just performed at Buckingham Palace live on TV in front of millions of viewers! COMFORTABLE!”

In the past, Nandi recorded a version of Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” for John Lewis’ 2018 ad in the famous RAK studios in London.

She also jammed with musician Lenny Kravitz in 2019, appeared in a music video for Blink 182 in 2020, and wrote a song about her by Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl. As well as playing on stage with the band.
