A farmer was hospitalized after being stoned while working in a field in Somerset.

Ms Pine said: “Without any provocation or anything, this walker threw his finger at him as he passed him, so he stopped to ask ‘what’s the problem’ to find out why he did it.”
“Then they told him ‘don’t plow the sidewalk,’ which of course it wasn’t – he did everything 100 percent right.” We rent the land, so in a way you are even more careful with what you do.
After a brief exchange in which Mr. Pine informed the man of his right to work in the fields, the walking dog picked up a stone and continued to throw it at the farmer’s head.
Ms. Pine added, “With that, he picked up a stone – and there are stones the size of your hand – and threw it at my husband’s head, then fled.
“He is 70 years old [he] purposefully threw it in someone’s head. If my husband was looking maybe two inches from the other side, he would have taken his eye out. “
The injury meant that Mr. Pine had to seek treatment at A&E, where he received stitches, according to his son (Image: Jane Pine)
Mr. Pine received cuts on the side of his head, which resulted in heavy bleeding. Locals expressed both disgust and best wishes online, where son James Pine thanked people for their kind words and assured them that “he is fine – just a few basic things” after seeking treatment at A&E .
The attacker is described as a man in his thirties with dark hair on the sides and back, but balding on top. He is also thin, wearing shorts and walking in a gray Staffordshire Terrier.
Anyone with any information about the incident should call Avon and Somerset Police on 101.
