Winnipeg was hit by rain again on Friday and the city was close to setting a record for rainfall.
Environment Canada told CTV News that 53 millimeters of rain fell at Winnipeg airport between 5pm and 6pm
That’s three millimeters less than the record set in 1984 for the most rainfall in an hour at the airport.
Heavy rainfall in a short period of time led to several road floods on Friday.
The city said 311 received 105 calls for flooded streets and ditches and another 17 calls for basement flooding.
This comes after a strong thunderstorm brought heavy hail to several communities across the province on Thursday evening and Friday morning.
Strong winds also accompany the storm and possible tornado in Binskart, Man. was also investigated on Thursday night.
For Saturday night, Environment Canada predicts several showers that will end at night. There is also a risk of a thunderstorm in the evening.
