Dutch giants Ajax are reportedly ready to make a better offer for Tottenham striker Stephen Bergwine after the initial offer was rejected.
The Dutch star has already expressed his desire to leave the club from north London this summer, after failing to win a regular starting place under Antonio Conte last season.
And in a report by De Telegraaf it is claimed that a new offer of Ajax is on the way for the 24-year-old football player.
Tottenham sporting director Fabio Paratici is estimated to have estimated Bergwine at around £ 25.6 million. But that figure is slightly ahead of Ajax’s initial offer of £ 15 million plus £ 4.3 million in supplements.
The Daily Mirror said last month that the Dutch side was ready to invade the nimble wing.
However, they will make a significant improvement on this offer if they want to find their man.
Bergwine scored just four goals and added two assists in 32 games for Tottenham last season. But his most memorable moment in the campaign came when he scored twice in added time to turn a 2-1 deficit into a 3-2 victory over Leicester in January.
Bergwijn’s talent did not shine enough
However, his overall record is not good. In fact, the Dutchman scored only eight goals in 83 games for the club.
However, Bergwijn showed glimpses of his true abilities, which may tempt Conte to keep him. However, much will depend on what kind of striker Tottenham will bring this summer.
Conte is known to want another number 9 to support Harry Kane, with the names of Richardson and Gabriel Jesus in the framework for this role.
Both the Everton man and Manchester City can play widely. To that end, Bergwein’s future in north London seems doomed, but only if Daniel Levy gets his asking price.
