An RCMP employee in Surrey faces numerous criminal charges on charges of abusing his position to obtain contact information with women he wanted to prosecute.
The BC prosecutor’s office said on Wednesday Peter Lecky was charged with seven counts of breach of trust and two counts of computer fraud for alleged violations, involving three people between January 2014 and October 2020.

According to Surrey RCMP, Leki claims that he used his position as a police officer to obtain information and contact the public “in order to engage in intimate relationships with women both on and off duty.”
“These are disturbing allegations of breach of trust and fraud involving one of our officers,” RCMP Surrey Officer Assistant Commissioner Brian Edwards said in a press release.

Leki has been with the RCMP in Surrey since January 2010. According to a report in the Vancouver Sun, he was awarded an officer’s award in 2012 for “efforts to save the life of a woman who attempted suicide by hanging on Jan. 14, 2012 in Surrey.

The RCMP released a photo of Leki and asked for additional witnesses or someone with information to contact the Squad’s Professional Standards Division at 604-599-7887.
Leki is currently being paid, but the RCMP said the approval of the charges “will commit the process to moving to a stop without pay.”

His first appearance in court is scheduled for July 29.
