The Greater Toronto area, as well as much of southern and northern Ontario, have been warned of heat before what Environment Canada says will have two days of extreme temperatures.
According to the warning, temperatures on Tuesday and Wednesday will be from medium to low 30 degrees, without much relief at night.
In Toronto, temperatures are expected to rise to about 29 C on Tuesday, feeling like 34 C with humidity. Environment Canada also warns that the UV index will be around 10 or “very high”.
On Wednesday, the temperature will be similar, with a maximum of 33 degrees and a probability of precipitation of 40 percent.
Environment Canada says “cooler air is expected to arrive by Thursday”.
“Hot and humid air can also lead to deteriorating air quality and can bring the air quality health index closer to the high-risk category,” the warning said.
“The risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, the elderly, people with chronic illnesses and people who work or train outdoors.
They warn that residents should not leave small children or pets in cars and that outdoor workers should take regular breaks in cool places.
