Thousands of dollars in damage were inflicted on the roof of Penticton High School by a group of trespassers.
The Penticton RCMP says four people climbed onto the school roof in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
They were spotted by security cameras arriving in what is believed to be a white Nissan Juke SUV.
Police are asking the public for help in identifying the group after they caused significant damage to equipment connected to the school district network.
Security camera footage shows a group of young people climbing a fence to enter the building.
The estimated cost of repairing the damage is over $ 8,000, said a Penticton spokesman RCMP Const. Dane Lions
“This kind of damage is pointless,” Lions said in a press release. “Whether accidentally or intentionally, the cost of repairs comes from the pot of money that would be better spent on students and education.”
Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to call the Penticton RCMP at 250-492-4300 or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or www.crimestoppers.net.
