As southern Manitoba continues to be affected by torrential rains, a number of communities have received more than 50mm of rain in the last 24 hours.
On Tuesday morning, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change in Canada announced that 63 millimeters (mm) of rain had fallen in Morden and Dominion City in the last 24 hours.
It is noted that Gretna was hit with 55 mm of rain, while Stonewall received 53 mm.
50.3 mm of rain fell at Winnipeg Airport. However, Forks received less rain at 35 mm.
The Meteorological Agency reported that Altona and Steinbach were hit by 49.5 mm, while Portage la Prairie and Emerson noticed slightly lower amounts of 48.6 and 47, respectively.
Brandon received less than a mm of rain because the rain strip was east of town. However, Environment Canada reported 30 to 35 mm of rainfall in the Brandon-Portage corridor.
It wasn’t just the rain that flooded the countryside; many regions were also affected by strong winds.
According to Environment Canada, wind gusts reach 106 km / h in Minedosa and 100 km / h in Portage la Prairie.
Winds reach 96 km / h at Lakeland Farm and 94 km / h at Deerewood.
Environment Canada said there were winds of 91 km / h at the Bagot farm.
The Meteorological Agency issued rain and wind warnings in southern Manitoba on Tuesday, saying an additional 20 to 30 mm of rain is still expected in those regions.
