Sasha Banks and Naomi paid the price for leaving Monday Night Raw earlier this week.
WWE announced in “Friday Night SmackDown” that their women’s championship teams have been “suspended indefinitely” and deprived of their titles after refusing to compete in the six-pack challenge in the main event and that a tournament will be held for coronation of new champions. WWE announced on Raw that the two women left before changing the main event and chose to address the situation directly again on the show.
Banks and Naomi’s product pages were also removed from WWE Shop at the time of publication.
“Sasha Banks and Naomi disappointed us,” Michael Cole told SmackDown on Friday. “The WWE Women’s Champions left the show and walked out of the building during Monday Night Raw.”
He then went into detail on Monday’s WWE event, saying the two women took their team championships to Talent Manager John Laurinatis’ office, left them there and left the arena.
“Their actions have disappointed millions of WWE fans and their fellow superstars,” Cole said before announcing the shutdown.

Banks and Naomi, according to a WWE statement on Monday, left the Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia and refused to be part of the match with Becky Lynch, Asuka, Dudrop and Nicki AS to determine the No. 1 contender for Raw women’s champion Bianca Beller. Hell in a Cell with pay-per-view on 5 June. Asuka defeated Lynch to win the singles match instead.
Naomi, according to Fightful Select, had to win the match and face Beller, and Banks will enter a singles program with SmackDown women’s champion Ronda Rousey, leaving their team’s gold and division potentially unknown. Banks addressed the issue directly with WWE President Vince McMahon that day, according to reports.
The WWE statement on the events also said that Banks and Naomi – who have not yet given their side of history personally – do not feel respected as champions of the team and “feel uncomfortable in the ring with two of their opponents.” Fightful Select reported that the problems of Banks and Naomi are centered around the direction of the women’s team division and are not concerned about the women in the match.
If WWE is to hold a scenario tournament, it will probably have to make some new women’s teams, as technically there are only three other famous teams outside of Banks and Naomi currently on the list.
