iPad Pro 2021: will multitasking change with iPadOS 16?

The next iPad operating system will have a big change in the way Apple’s tablet is used, according to Mark German of Bloomberg. And there are only a few days left, as it will be presented at Apple’s global developer conference, which begins next Monday, June 6.

The big change is the one that has topped the wish list for many people for a long time: better multitasking. An iPad, especially when a keyboard is connected to it, is a complete computer. As Apple’s recent ad says, “Your next computer is not a computer.” It is true that the iPad Pro is more powerful than many ordinary laptops.
But there’s a problem with using your iPad as if it’s a MacBook with a touch screen, and that’s multitasking. So, the great news is that the iPadOS 16 will have a “redesigned multitasking interface that makes it easier to see which apps are open and switch between tasks,” according to Gurman sources.
Will the redesigned iPadOS mean that the iPad is even more like a regular laptop?

For me, Gurman’s key sentence is this: “It will also allow users to resize application windows and offer new ways for users to work with multiple applications at once.” It’s pretty cool and overcomes many of the limitations that the iPad currently has for performance purposes.
It has often been felt that the iPad’s hardware is so powerful that the software is out of step, especially with the advent of the Apple M1 processor in the iPad Pro, as well as in Apple laptops and desktops.
Gourmet says the announcement will be one of the biggest at the conference. No kidding. Since you are currently limited to two windows working next to each other plus a third who jumps over them to sit on the edge, switching to windows that you can resize will be a change in seismic proportions.
The announcement will be followed by a developer beta, followed by a public beta and final general software in the fall.
More details as we have them.
