Fender himself apologized after sharing his photo with Johnny Depp at a pub in Newcastle and describing the actor as a “hero.”
The musician was portrayed alongside Depp and musician Jeff Beck, who welcomed Depp to the stage during a number of recent concerts in the United Kingdom.
Fender shared the photo on its Instagram story page with the caption: “Some serious characters.” He later appeared to delete the image.
The photo was shared the night the verdict was handed down for Depp’s notorious court battle with his ex-wife Amber Heard.
In a new Instagram post, Fender referred to his photo with the Pirates of the Caribbean star, describing the message as “naive and disrespectful.”
“I want to apologize,” he wrote. “I was invited to meet briefly with a music legend and actor who has starred in almost every film I’ve seen while I was.
“I went – we talked to music and without thinking, I took a picture and published it, because it was quite surreal.”

He said the word “heroes” had been used to refer to Depp and Beck’s careers, but acknowledged that the context of the process had made him “very misinformed”.
Fender continued: “Now I realize it was a bad choice of words and time, but it doesn’t matter. He was naive and disrespectful to those who addressed some of the issues highlighted in the process and the broader issues he raised. I didn’t think about it and I had to.

Depp is suing Hurd for $ 50 million (£ 39.8 million) for a Washington Post article entitled: “I spoke out against sexual violence – and faced the wrath of our culture. That needs to change. “

The article did not mention Depp by name, but his lawyers told him that this falsely suggested that he physically and sexually raped Hurd while they were together.
Hurd filed a counterclaim for $ 100 million (£ 80.9 million), accusing Depp of organizing a “defamation campaign” against her and describing his lawsuit as a continuation of “abuse and harassment”.
On Wednesday (June 1st), the jury shared its verdicts, finding Hurd slandered Depp on all three counts.
The jury found Hurd defaming Depp on all three counts and awarded him $ 10 million (£ 8 million) in damages and $ 5 million (£ 4 million) in criminal damages. Hurd was awarded $ 2 million (£ 1.6 million) in damages but no punitive damages.
