“Thank God these allegations have been proven false.”

Last week, TMZ reported that Ricky Martin was facing up to 50 years in prison following incest and domestic violence charges against him.

On July 1, the 50-year-old star was granted a temporary restraining order by a man Martin allegedly dated for seven months, but their identities remain anonymous.

Puerto Rican news website El Vocero reported: “The parties were engaged for seven months. They broke up two months ago, but [Ricky] I do not accept the separation.”
“[Ricky] call him often. In addition, the petitioner saw him hanging around his residence at least three times. The petitioner fears for his safety,” the report further said.
Martin’s brother later identified the petitioner as Ricky’s 21-year-old nephew, Dennis Yadiel Sanchez, who said he had a sexual relationship with his uncle, who became abusive after the romance ended about eight weeks ago.

Sanchez is the son of Martin’s half-sister, Vanessa, and Martin strongly denied the allegations through his attorney, Marty Singer, at the time.
“Ricky Martin, of course, has never been — and never will be — involved in any sexual or romantic relationship with his nephew,” Singer said in a statement to Variety. “The idea is not only false, but disgusting. We all hope this man gets the help he so urgently needs. But most of all, we look forward to seeing this horrible case dismissed as soon as a judge gets the facts.

The charges were filed in court Thursday, but the case was dropped after Sanchez dropped the claims against his uncle.
In a statement released after the case was dismissed, Martin’s attorneys argued that Sanchez made the allegations because he was a “problem person.”

“Just as we expected, the temporary protection order was not extended by the court,” the statement began.
“The prosecutor confirmed to the court that his decision to dismiss the matter was his alone, without any outside influence or pressure, and the prosecutor confirmed that he was satisfied with his legal representation in the matter,” it added.
“The request came from the prosecutor with a request to terminate the case. It was never more than a troubled individual making false claims with absolutely nothing to back them up,” he concludes. “We are pleased that our client has seen justice and can now move forward with his life and career.”

Martin shared a screenshot of the statement on his Instagram page along with the caption, “Truth prevails.”
His legal team previously told the Daily Mail that Sanchez “struggles with profound mental health issues”.

Martin has also broken his silence on the case as legal commitments have previously left him unable to speak publicly about the allegations.
In a video posted by TMZ, Martin said he needed to speak out so he could begin his “healing process.”

“For two weeks, I was not allowed to defend myself because I was following a procedure where the law obliged me not to speak until I stood before a judge,” he explained. “Thank God these allegations have been proven false.”
“It was so painful, it was devastating for me, for my family, for my friends. I don’t wish this on anyone,” Martin continued. “I wish the person who claims this nonsense all the best. And I wish he finds the help so he can start a new life full of love and truth and joy and not hurt anyone.”

Martin has been married to artist Juan Yosef since 2017 and together they have four children: 13-year-old twins Matteo and Valentino, whom Martin welcomed via surrogacy in 2008; 3-year-old Lucia; and Ren, also three.

Juan supported her husband in the allegations and on Thursday shared a photo of them together with the same poignant caption: “Truth prevails.”
