TDCJ confirms cartel killer Gonzalo Lopez is dead, another child is found dead

UPDATE (23:46) – TDCJ officials now say officers found four minors and one adult dead earlier today at a home in Leon County.

Agency officials initially said authorities found two adults and three children believed to be linked to Gonzalo Lopez.

They have not yet provided additional information, but said the investigation into the SH-7 home is ongoing.

UPDATE (11:29 p.m.) – The Texas Department of Criminal Justice says the killer of the Gonzalo Lopez cartel is dead.

Officials said the vehicle, which coincided with Lopez’s escape from Leon County, was spotted by lawmakers from the Atascosa County Sheriff’s Office.

They said lawmakers used a device to inflate the tires of vehicles outside of Jurdanton, Texas, and Lopez got out of the truck, firing an AR-15 at police officers.

According to Jason Clark of the TDCJ, officers were involved in the shooting of Lopez, killing him.

Clark said Lopez had a gun in the vehicle along with an assault rifle.

UPDATE (10:48 p.m.) – Convicted cartel killer Gonzalo Lopez is in custody tonight after escaping from custody more than three weeks ago, police said.

That’s what McLennan County Sheriff Parnell McNamara said 25 News Atatos County police arrested the fugitive killer earlier Thursday night.

Authorities said Lopez was traveling in a Chevrolet Silverado belonging to a family they believe may have killed in Leon County.

There is still no information about Lopez’s destination.

This comes when authorities made a horrific discovery at a home near Centerville, where the bodies of two adults and three children were found.
