The driver of the SUV died when the vehicle collided with a bridge on MacDonald Road near Parr Line west of Exeter at 4:40 p.m., Huron OPP said. The driver, whose name has not been released, was the only person in the car.

Earlier Monday afternoon, one person was killed and four people were injured in a head-on collision in Oxford County.

An SUV and a vehicle collided around 1:15 p.m. on Hofstetter Road in Blandford-Blenheim north of the town of Plattsville, Oxford OPP said.

The driver of the car died in hospital, police said.

The driver of the SUV and three children were taken to the hospital, one child by ambulance, with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

The identity of the deceased driver is being withheld pending police notification of the family.

Hofstetter Road was closed between Oxford/Waterloo Road and Township Road 14 while police investigated the crash.

Acting Sgt. Ed Sanchuk said on social media that investigators believe another vehicle was in the area at the time of the crash and would like to speak with the driver.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call Oxford OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
